This journal sucks and is now about Dragon Quest 4 DS
The European version came out a few days ago, so I'm playing a pirated version of it for now. I'm going to buy a legitimate version when it comes out on Tuesday, however.

It's really, really good. The orchestral music sounds music, and I really love Alena's theme in the second chapter. The only gripe I have is that every time you go back to the world map after getting into a battle, the music starts at the beginning, meaning you'll rarely get to really listen to the full lengths of each song, and a lot of songs change instruments after the first loop. Sugiyama wrote a boss theme that sounds great (It's basically a remix of one of the passages from the normal battle theme), and Necrosaro still has my favorite final boss theme in the series.

Other than that, the battles and characters are still really well balanced, and in general very little grinding is needed. Some of the sprites are recycled from DW7, but all the enemies are fully animated and look very nice overall. I kind of lost interest in the original NES version when I reached the last chapter, but being able to control all of your party members really does make the game more fun.

Took me about 22 hours to beat the first five chapters. Party was level 33 (average) by the end. I'm not going to waste too much more time on the extra chapter, however.
